Meet a Member of the Tribe

Verena Behrnd is a German interculturalist living in Belgium now for six months. Verena is both, an intercultural trainer, as well as a researcher in the intercultural field. But now she is living in Gent because her Mexican partner found work here and she has come from intercultural practice and theory to real acculturation practice. Being an intercultural expert, Verena knows what it takes to get closer to the culture and people. For her, Belgium seems to be particularly hard to adapt to on the food side (fries and chocolate cannot be everything!) but Verena enjoys the openness and the humor of the people. And she already had her debut in Belgium singing with her choir at the Christmas market. Being in Belgium, Verena started an interesting study about intercultural competence and adaptation to the host culture. She is still inviting international students and expatriates to participate.
